Ear Infections

Kev just brought Luke home and sure enough the boy had an ear infection from his cold. This makes me not so happy. I worry that it will slow his speech down like it did Joey's but I have dealt with that before and can do it again. Hope this will be the last one.

Home again

Daddy got home last night about 5pm. Everyone was super excited to get him home. Luke cried when Kev and Joey went to the bathroom. I guess he thought they were both leaving him.

Luke is not feeling well he has a cold. I am hoping not an ear infection. He has done a lot of crying. Kev is taking him to the doctor at 2:45 this afternoon. Luke had a huge problem getting to sleep last night. When a boy can't suck his thumb it makes it most impossible to sleep.

I took Joey to a MOMS Club event and he made a 4th of July t-shirt. It is super cute. I will take a picture of him in it on Friday. He did an awesome time.

When Daddy's away we can play

There are things that Daddy doesn't like that we do. We all like fish and Daddy doesn't so we went to Red Lobster last night. Luke ate like we hadn't fed him in days. He throughly enjoyed the meal he had a baby Shirley Temple (I believe we use to call these Kiddie Cocktails), applesauce, baked fish, 3 garlic cheese biscuits, and French fries.. Joey barely ate and Red Lobster was his suggestion.
Tonight we are fixing homemade chocolate chip cookies and eating cheese pizza (Daddy likes pepperoni on his) and watching The Bee Movie. We can go on long walks and play in the rain when daddy is gone. Joey can wear his Batman costume when we leave the house when Daddy is away. He wore his Batman costume to Red Lobster and everyone thought he was cool.
Tomorrow Daddy comes home and we will all be happy, for all the neat things we can do when he isn't here we miss a lot of neat things that we can do with him also.

Friday

Has been a good here and a sad day in California for Kev. Luke and I have enjoyed each others company. Joey completed his Bible School. Now he is super excited about 4 year old school. He was a little sad because his best friend from Bible School Benjamin couldn't make it. Joey said he was really sick with a cold. The first day he liked a boy named William, but he changed his mind because William is afraid of everything or so I am told.
Now for Kev, the kids had the underwater portion of the competition today. This was the part that they thought they would excel at and well everything went wrong. Kev was upset for them. They tried, but things just weren't working the way they should have. It is my understanding it was more human error than machine. They have been given a hard time from the other Florida teams because they didn't go to a qualifier and he said that they would hear more. I told him it didn't matter.

Joey has learned many songs at Bible School this is his favorite.

Shoulder News

I am not liking what my Physical Therapist is saying. I am not getting pain relief. I got the cortisone shot and I felt great for about 24 hours and then the pain came back. Nothing I do seems to help. I am taking Ultram at least 2 times a day and a lot of times 3 times a day, plus Tylenol. Physical Therapy isn't helping. I am doing Iontophoresis therapy which worked wonders last time with little to no help. This week she tried to add Ultrasound and it made things worse, so today she tried to had electrical stimulation and it made things worse. I have great range of motion, but lots of pain. My physical therapist says that I should plan on getting another cortisone injection on July 9 when I go to see Dr. Jones. She says if I don't respond well to that then she thinks I might be looking at a referral to an Orthopedic Surgeon. She says that they will only give 3 cortisone injections in a 6 month time frame and if it isn't helping then I need to look at different options. I was suppose to start the work hardening program next week, but won't because my pain is still bad. I think most of my problems are from Luke, but I have to lift him. When I pick him up I noticed the other day that my hand goes numb in a few places.

Vacation Bible School is over and Joey had a blast. It was good for him to go by himself. They tell me he was great. He brought all his cute things he made home today. He was very excited to show them off. I was teasing Luke today and ask him if we should live Joey there. Luke screamed "Joe!Joe!" I think he likes him. Then Luke was walking around in the church when the kids were singing their last songs. This cute little girl picked him up and Joey got jealous. He went up to her and told her to put him down that Luke was his brother. Then in the car he called her an idiot, so we had to have a long talk about not calling people names. He thought she was trying to take his brother. Luke was enjoying his time with this girl.

Calling all heroes

Joey is at VBS this week. He has been coming home sing this song called Calling all Heroes. I got the pleasure of hearing it today it is all the kids favorite song. It is a really neat song. It is going to be on a Veggie Tales movie that comes out this fall.
Speaking of songs, he was singing me other songs this evening and it was really cute. He not only knew the words but hand movements also.
Tomorrow is the last day of VBS, but Joey won't be sad. He says he will go to 4 year old school soon. This has been really good for him. He comes home really hungry and really tired. I ask him if he got in trouble and he said "I never get in trouble. I wouldn't do that."
He is enjoying playing with fake food and even tea party. I think it is good that he is learning to play with girls.

Give me the strength

Luke crawled in Joey's bed this morning and pretend to take a nap.
I ask him if he was Joey and he said "No No No!" giggling the whole time.
I got a glimpse of what lunch will be like this fall, nice and calm and full of eating.
Joey made this pirate hat thing at Bible School, he painted on it a little and it has beads.

I just want to say I am super tired. I haven't slept but a few minutes in the last 24 hours. This morning at 7:20 Kev had to go to the airport to leave for San Diego for his ROV competition. He thought he left later in the day when I signed up for work. So I had to leave a little bit early.
Then Joey had to go to Bible School from 9-12. They were suppose to nap after we picked Joey up. Luke decided that he would not nap. Joey did sleep for about an hour. So I got a few minutes of sleep, which I think might have made things worse. This afternoon because Luke is tired he has been doing ornery things and because I am exhausted I am not being my normal patient self. So I have been battling with the boys.
On a great note two women that are working with the 4 year olds told me how great Joey is doing and how sweet and mannerly he is. This made me very proud.

Vacation Bible School

Joey went to Vacation Bible School for the first time. He had a blast. After we dropped him off Luke yelled for him, I think he thought we forgot him at the church. When we came home he ran into Joey's room and yelled "My Joey?"
He was very excited to see Joey when we went to pick him up. Joey had a blast. He was busy telling me and Luke about all the fun things he got to do. He says he missed Luke also. He says he wants to go back tomorrow. He also says that learning all that stuff made him tired. He loved the song called "Calling our hero".

Finally the circus

We went to the Circus today. Joey said that we couldn't miss that. We went last year and Joey loved it, so we had to go back this year. Last year we left Luke at home with a babysitter. Apparently, Joey thought we'd do that again. He told us that Luke was to little to go, but he went anyways.
Luke sat down and didn't move once it started. He did well until intermission. After intermission, he didn't care about the circus anymore. I ask him if he was going to run off with the circus and he said "No! No! No!" Luke is very impressed with elephants. Joey's favorite part was when the clowns were being funny.
The circus started and Luke sat there, he watched very seriously.
The beginning of the Circus.
Luke was clapping for the Elephants.
I love these clowns.

This Clown insisted on dinner afterwards.

Blueberry Picking, Road Kill Cafe and Cheese Farm

Today we went Blueberry picking with MOMS Club. It was really neat. I suckered Kev into going with us, since I had to work tonight. Joey really enjoyed picking blueberries. He says that they are the best he has ever tried. Luke was just happy to walk around and then he found a cat that he had fun playing with.
After that we headed to the Road Kill Cafe for lunch. Kev has wanted to go to this place for ever. It is a buffet. Kev wasn't that impressed, but Luke he was thrilled to there. He lots and lots.
On the way home we stopped at the Cheese Farm or as Joey says Cheese Town. Now I was very happy that we went here, because Luke and Joey were able to see some cows, a turkey, and some chickens and ducks. We got some cheese and both boys were eating it in the car. It is really good cheese.
I work tonight and then tomorrow is the circus.

Not what I planned

Had planned on going to Old Seville Square for Music in the park. That didn't happen. Kev hit his head on a diving board while working on the ROV. He complained of a headache right afterwards. Then he started getting dizzy and nauseated. He decided he should go see a doctor. I drove him to Urgent Care. The boys and I came home. He called and they said that they wouldn't see him, because he had a head injury and he'd have to go to the ER. When I went to get him, he decided that he didn't want to go to the ER. His nausea was better, he wasn't hurting as bad, his nausea was better. I will just watch him, I think he is OK.

Do you eat with Elephants???

If you know anything about the Turner Family we like free events, whether it is a parade, a playdate at a park, a tour of a grocery store or a picnic with Elephants. We like it and we will try like mad to get to it. So the circus is in town this week and today they had the Pachyderm Picnic and we headed to eat lunch with the elephants. Joey had a blast and is now even more excited about the circus on Saturday. I was very proud of Joey, the clowns were handing out tattoos and Joey got one for Luke. He also got one for his imaginary kitten, Max. I am not sure how I am going to get out of putting a tattoo on Max.
Joey and the other kids from MOMS Club

Here is what the Elephants are going to eat.The circus is missing this clown.

Me and My Luke watching hungry Elephants.

Watching Elephants eat, made Luke want to eat.

The excitement is over, the belly is full so Luke is ready for a nap and Joey is ready to head home.

There are the 11 girls eating. You might see a red and white fluffy soft kitten named Max. He apparently came and shared with the elephants. I thought that he would be afraid of the elephants, but Joey said that he wasn't. Joey also told me that Max told the elephants that he wanted just the red part of the watermelon so that is what they gave him.

So much to do!!!

I will just say that I celebrated my anniversary by sleeping all day because I worked Monday night, then I worked last night. My sweet husband did cook an amazing meal for dinner. I am sure we will do something some evening, but not sure when yet.

Yesterday morning after work I returned to Physical Therapy. The plan is to do 2 weeks of treatments to get the pain better under control. The first cortisone injection took a few days to kick in, but once it did I had no more pain. The day after this cortisone injection I had very little pain, but since that day I don't think it is helping much. So I am doing some sort of therapy that is suppose to help with pain, it worked extremely well the last time. After 2 weeks, then I am suppose to start hardening therapy. The idea is to strengthen everything around the rotator cuff, so that I don't continue to injury the rotator cuff. The Physical Therapist didn't talk like she thought it would work, but I am willing to try. I returned to Physical Therapy this morning.

After PT, one would think that I might want to come home and sleep. I couldn't sleep. I had to take the boys on a tour of Publix. I know some of you are wondering why a person would want to tour a grocery store, well there is lots to learn. We went with MOMS Club. They showed the kids the bakery and then gave all the kids a cookie. Then they talked to them about the deli and gave the kids cheese and popcorn. Then they took them back and showed them were they cut all the fruit and gave them fruit cups. Then they talked to them about meat. Then they took them in the back and showed them where they keep all the extra groceries. Joey was impressed that they had extra pink juice. Then we saw were all the trucks come in, usually between 1-4am. Then we walked to the Pharmacy, where the pharmacist told all the kids what he did. Then they were give balloons and bags of goodies. Luke got his bag of goodies and was so impressed with the apple that he started eating it right away. Joey was offered a job in the bakery, he is thinking of taking it.

After this I slept for awhile. We have had dinner and we have had our family walk.

FYI: Those of you that were confused like myself and thought Joey was going to be a student at 4 year old school, well apparently we were wrong. He informed me that he will be a teacher with students of his own just like his daddy. He thinks he will teach his students how to play with toys and animals.

Tomorrow is another day and I have more fun stuff planned for tomorrow.

So 8 years ago today, I never would have imagined that I would be eating dinner with Joey and Luke. I never would have thought I'd laugh because a Luke David threw rice at me during dinner. In fact, 8 years ago at this time I was laughing and smiling and enjoying my wedding reception. I had dreams of Sannibel and moving to Pensacola. I didn't know what would happen, but I knew that I had just married the most wonderful man in the world to me. The last 8 years have taken us down so many happy roads and a few sad, the one thing that has been super is that Kev has been by my side the whole time.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day today. Kev is such a wonderful daddy we had to spoil him today.
Kev and his loot from the boys. Luke got him a lounge chair for the backyard, so they can be outside all the time.

We all got him this radio for his boat, plus it is also part of our anniversary gift.

Joey thought his Dad needed this t-shirt that says My Clone is Awesome

This is the reason why he is such a great daddy.

Pictures from Balloon Fest

Thought I'd share some pictures from the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Foley. It was worth the short drive to see these amazing balloons. We all enjoyed it. Joey didn't want to leave. Luke would have stayed all night watching them, I think.

He loves corn.

Shoulder

My shoulder is 100% better today. I love some cortisone injections. Of course, my shoulder wasn't as bad as it was the last time. I love Dr. Jones, he understands me, unlike the evil lady at the Urgent Care. I guess since I wasn't crying and begging for Narcs, she thought I didn't hurt. WRONG!!! So my extra shift at the hospital this summer will be light duty work. That wasn't my plan, but if it gets this shoulder better then I am all for it. Of course, Dr. Jones understands that I have to lift plenty of weight at home.
