More doctor's appointments

Luke woke up with a fever this morning and complaining of his mouth hurting.  I just took him to see Dr. Grier.  She checked him out and then cultured his throat, no strep.  She is pretty sure Joey doesn't have it now.  She said it is just a virus and he'd be better in 2-3 days.

Luke took a 3 1/2 hour nap.  Of course he woke up with a fever.  He came out to the couch and was yelling at me for hitting the couch while sweeping the floors.  As soon as the temp came down he got up and decided to go fix his car.  A few weeks ago, Kev took his car back to Pep Boy's about the brakes and they finally fixed it right.  Well ever since then Luke has talked about fixing his car.  He has spent countless hours fixing his car.  As soon as it is fixed he has a list of things that he thought up that he will go buy at the store.
Fruit
Apples
juice
toy for Joe Joe
book for daddy
soap
donuts
pancakes
hotdogs
chips
shoes for momma (I was barefoot)
goldfish
With any luck we should see these items by the time he is 20, he is always fixing his car.

Back from Urgent Care

Took Joey to Urgent Care.  She took one look as throat and said that is going require an antibiotic.  Then the lady came in and said "He's strep is negative."  The doctor said "I don't know about that!"  Then she looked in his ears and said "Well that will need an antibiotic also."

So 2 ear infections and strep throat.  She said that sometimes the quick test won't show strep when it is there.

He said he was hungry, but he hadn't had anything to eat since breakfast.  I took him to McDonald's and got his nuggets and a milkshake.  Came home dropped him off and headed to Walgreens to get him his antibiotic, decongestant and some Motrin.

He has been medicated.

The Dreaded Call

This morning all was normal in the world.  The boys were playing and enjoying everything. Luke picked out his favorite shirt.
The shirt says it all.
Then at about 11:15 I got a call from Joey school.  He was sick with a fever.  I stopped everything and loaded Luke up in the car.  All was right with Luke in the world.  We got Joey who was asleep in Mrs. Shoni's lap.  Drove home and when I got Luke out of the car, he also had a fever.  Both boys slept 2 1/2 hours this afternoon.
Then is what they have done after their nap.

Beach or bust

Yesterday we headed to the beach for a little while.  We flew kites.  The red flags were flying, because there was terrible rip tides.  We still had a lot of fun.
The dolphin kite Grandpa Flesher sent the boys.
Luke flying the kite.
Luke wanted to fly it again.
My happy baby boy.

Luke and his dirty face
Momma loves him even with a dirty face.
Joey attempting to do the splits on the beach.  He says it is harder on the beach.

Finally the boys played outside all afternoon.  Luke got filthy.  This was his face before he got his bath tonight.  What you can't see is all of the potting soil and sand in his hair.  His body was just as dirty as his face.
A face only his mother can love and does.

8 things

I was tagged by Jamie, one of my nurse friends from Baptist, she is now living away from Pensacola and thanks to all the blogging I have been blessed enough to watch her young family grow up.

Here's how 8 THINGS works:-
Mention the person that tagged you.
- Complete the lists of 8's.
- Tag 8 of your wonderful bloggy friends.
- Go tell them you tagged them!

8 THINGS I LOOK FORWARD TO:
1. Getting up and seeing the boys and their beautiful smiles.
2. My alone time with Luke, I never got much of that until this year when Joey went to school.
3. Going to Charlotte, NC for a week this summer.  Kev will be in a class, but me and the boys will have lots of time to do fun things.
4. Going to Palafox Pier with the boys this summer.
5. Working in my flower beds.
6. Watching Joey at Tae Kwon Do, I love to watch him enjoy something as much as he does.
7. Disney World in November.
8. Hearing the boys laugh and play together

8 THINGS I DID YESTERDAY:-
1. I worked until 7:30am
2. Drove home
3. Slept
4. Woke up at 5:15 to two boys jumping on the bed.
5. Ate dinner with the family.
6. Held Luke
7. Took a shower
8. Headed back to work.

8 THINGS I WISH I COULD DO:
1. Teach young nurses the importance of staying calm and never let their job make them cry.  It is just a job, everyone has a bad day and we all make mistake even the doctor that is cussing you out or the patient that is screaming at you.  Life goes on.
2. Teach my boys to be productive, honest, hard working gentlemen. (Yeah, I said gentlemen)
3. Be more organized at home
4. Go to the YMCA at least 2 times a week.
5. Take the boat our more this summer, we have it we should use it.
6. Learn to cook better.
7. Sing more with Joey
8.  Start running again, but I don't seem motivated to start.

8 SHOWS I WATCH:
1.How I Met Your Mother
2. Two and a Half Men
3. House Hunters
4. Curious George
5. Sesame Street
6. Aaron Stone
7. Criminal Minds
8. Sid the Science Guy

Backetball

Luke loves basketball.  He talks all the time about backetball.  This morning he played in the backyard for about an hour.

He made a basket.

Kindergarten

I met with Joey's teacher.  She gave me a folder with all the work she has been working on with him in the last few weeks.  She wanted to see what he has learned.  She says he is ready for kindergarten.  He knows his letters, colors, number, shapes, and any other thing he should know. She said that he is one of the brightest kids she has taught.  He picks up on things really easy and he has a joy of learning.  She also said that of the 10 kids in the class he is very worried about others.  For example, if he notices that she is not smile, he will come sit next to her and say "Are you mad?"  She will tell him whatever and then he will come back to check on her later.

She ask all the kids what they want to be when they grow up.  Joey told her that he wants to be a nurse and will go to UWF to college.  He started saying he wants to be a nurse in January and he hasn't changed his mind one time.  He went to UWF a few weeks ago to Festival on the Green and fell in love with the place.  Who knows?  I said when I was younger than him that I wanted to be a nurse.

We don't know if Luke will ever be ready for kindergarten.  He is so smart, but he doesn't want to prove it to you like Joey.  It is hard to figure out what he knows sometimes, but then when he tells you watch out he will shock you with his knowledge.

Earth Day

Joey and The Earth he made at school

We have been trying to teach the boys ways to do things that are better for our Earth.  We recycle, we open windows when we can, we have taken them to clean the beach events, and the list goes on.  This morning Joey woke up and screamed "Happy Earth Day Mom!"  He explained to me that it is an important day, to remind everyone to try to keep our Earth clean and beautiful.

Camping out

We decided to try camping with the boys. I had wanted Kev to take just Joey all last summer, but it just never happened. So since I got my work week finished early, I suggested we go camping at Big Lagoon State Park. Big Lagoon is only about 15 minutes from the house. We did some kite flying, some fishing, we had a camp fire and roasted hot dogs and marsh mellows.  I had visions of packing everything up because the boys wouldn't sleep or thought it was awful.  They loved and both are talking about when we can do it again.
The kites
Luke was interested in his Mickey Mouse kite for about 5 seconds, he couldn't wait to fish.
Luke fishing with his Mickey Mouse fishing pole.
The men taking fishing lessons from dad.
Joey wanted to use Kev's rod
The walk back to the car
At the camp fire making smores.
Check out the huge tent.  I told Kev that he will be able to house half the boy scouts in the county in that tent.
Joey ask to go to sleep and he stayed awake for about 3 minutes after he laid down.
This boy had a harder time getting to sleep.

Growing up is hard to do

This week I was scheduled to work Wednesday and Thursday, because the normal charge nurse took vacation. This complicated the normal everyday schedule of my family. I had to figure a way to shuffle everyone around. Yesterday was going to be easy, but then my babysitter had a test and wasn't able to watch Luke in the morning. So in the afternoon after I picked Joey up, both boys went to the babysitter for a few hours.
Today was more complicated. Kevin dropped the boys off at the babysitter's house. I picked up Joey up and we went to breakfast at Panera. We talked and had a wonderful time. While we were there I talked to him about the events of the day. I dropped him off at early care at 8am, this was the first time all year. He told me he was so excited about it. He was sure that it was going to be so much fun. Then after school, I told him I was going to have him stay at aftercare. I would pick him up from aftercare. He told me how great this would be, he would get extra time on the playground at school.
Fast forward to 1:45 this afternoon. I pulled up and here comes Joey. He says "Where have you been?" I said "Joey, I told you that you were going to stay for aftercare." One of the mom's who helps with early care and after care said "Joey, I reminded you that your mom was coming a little late today also." He gets his stuff and we go to the car. He says "Mommy, I thought you left me at school forever and it really hurt my feelings." It broke my heart. I thought he understood the events.

Vegas Baby

We have made it back from Vegas.  We had a wonderful trip.  We had some problems with our rooms at the Luxor.  We were suppose to have a room in the pyramid.  The first night we got there they said that our room wasn't clean.  They put us in the loudest room ever.  The next night we went to a room in the pyramid, it was equally annoying.  The last 2 nights we were put in a beautiful huge quiet suite.
