Lesson Learned

I for some crazy reason decided that I should take Luke to the library for storytime and a craft. The kids were to dress up in their costumes. At the end they gave them treats. I have been come the kind of mother that lets her kid go to something like this just for the treat. Note to self, Luke cannot go to the library till he is at least 5 and maybe 10. I don't see myself taking him back to the library storytime anytime soon.
Luke likes the computers better than the story

Luke decided to socialize with other kids during the reading of the story

Luke decided he'd think about taking all the books off the shelf during the reading of the story.
Luke only stood over here for the picture, because he wanted his treat.

Luke decided that all this excitement was enough to make him go to sleep.
Luke must take a nap, if he does not then at about 4pm he cries none stop. He get mean and grumpy. The other problem is if he falls asleep in the car for 5 minutes then he likes to count that as his sleep. Like I mentioned above this is not acceptable. So he is asleep in the car and I am sitting in the garage until we must go get Joey. I am not sure if that makes me a good mother or a crazy mother, but at any rate it will make my evening a much easier one.

Happy Halloween

I wanted to make a Halloween card like I did last year. The problem was I couldn't get the two boys to stand, sit or be remotely close to one another and look at a camera. I however did get a very good picture of each of the boys separately. So I went to the handy dandy photoshop and started playing. This is what I came up with. I am very proud of what I have done. I didn't think it would turn out this cute.

Home

After our party last night, both Joey and Luke went to bed.  All seemed fine, then at 11:30 Joey woke up and came in our room.  He said "Mom, I want to cuddle with you!"  He got in bed and he was hot.  We got him Tylenol.  This morning when he got up he was cool as a cucumber, but I wouldn't let him go to school.  He has mainly been watching TV and drinking juice.  He didn't complain to much about staying home.  In fact, I didn't hearing anything about it until lunch.  I don't think he feels as good as he thinks.

He did mustard up some energy to play in the witch's pot.
Luke is actually the one that thought this might be fun.

After lunch he crashed on the floor.  He is snoring now.

We are hanging in there

I got an email from Beth asking why I hadn't blogged lately. Mainly because there hasn't been the time. Earlier this week, Luke acted like he didn't feel well. The next morning he seemed better. I dropped him off at Mrs. Kristie's and he played and seemed OK. Then after his nap, she called and said he was coughing a lot. When Kev went to pick him up, he knew that Luke was really sick. Mrs. Kristie didn't realize he was as sick as he was. Kev ended up taking Friday off to take Luke to the doctor. Luke has a double ear infection.
This was what I saw before I left for work on Thursday. I felt guilty going to work, but I knew his daddy could take good care of him.

Yesterday Kev spent taking care of Luke. Joey also woke up with a terrible cough, so when Luke was at the doctor they checked Joey out also. Joey just has a cold.

This morning was Joey's first day of swimming lessons. He did really well. His instructor, Bonnie, told Kev many things to do to help him get better. He had a lot of fun. Of course, you don't have to beg Luke to go to the YMCA.

This evening we had MOMS Club fall party. It was a lot of playing and then we had dinner. The boys barely ate.

Well when he wasn't on a scooter he was playing ball.

Joey just playing

A Father Son Moment

Watch tomorrow evening for pictures from our Halloween party. It is going to be wonderful.

YMCA, I love this place

When I was a kid we went to the YMCA every Saturday for swim lessons. I loved the YMCA. I must say it was one of my favorite things to do when I was a kid. I totally enjoyed swimming. A few weeks ago we joined the YMCA here in Pensacola. It reminds me of the Y in Chillicothe. We have been trying to go every Tuesday evening for open family swim. This Saturday will be Joey's first swim lesson. He is in the Pike class. I am so glad we have joined. I have been going and working out a little and swimming some. I can take the boys and they are able to go to the Discovery Zone. Luke loves it. The people there seem really interactive with the kids. I am super impressed. The other day when I went to drop Luke off they were upstairs in the Gym, so I took him up there. He got to play with balls and run around the gym. Then they came back downstairs for a snack. Luke didn't want to leave when I was ready. Now if I can just lose some weight, I'll know I am getting my money's worth at the Y.

Ugh!!!

So this last week has been completely crazy. Late afternoon on Monday I started feeling bad and knew I had a UTI. So after eating dinner I went to Urgent Care. I tried to explain the the doctor that I usually don't get simple UTI's, but he told be we caught this one rather early and all would be fine with a 3 day supply of Levaquin. He also put me on this medication called UTA which was suppose to help with pain, it also turns your pee blue/green. I knew I shouldn't take the UTA, but I hurt pretty bad and needed to feel better. I took everything he gave me and Wednesday morning woke up still feeling bad, went to my family doctor and since I took the UTA and my pee was still blue they couldn't test it. Now I am on Cipro 500 mg twice a day for 7 days. If I am no better by tomorrow I am to return to the doctor to give a urine sample. During the waking hours I think I am better, but I suck down water. When I have been asleep during the night or day in my case, I don't get any water and then when I get up I am hurting some over my right kidney. So we will see what happens tomorrow.

Joey the reader

The kids have been making a book all week.  Joey got in the car and proceeded to read it to me.  He is quiet happy that he is able to read a book.  He says he will read it to Luke tonight.

I told his teacher that he was ready to learn today.  She said that he is probably one of the more advanced kids academically in his class.  She says he plays hard, but when they sit down to work he is the most serious kid there.  She says that he has a vocabulary like no other and he can answer the most difficult questions that she asks.  She says he will be ready for kindergarten and it is harder to get boys ready than girls.

Getting ready for Octoberfest

Last night I baked. I mean I seriously baked for Octoberfest. I fixed brownies, fun fetti cupcakes, and Grandma Turner's famous pumpkin cookies. I would probably do more tonight or tomorrow night, but I must work and keep this family out of the poor house.
I usually try to rest all day on Thursday. I usually drop Luke off at Mrs. Kristie's and then Joey to school. Well Joey went to school, but Luke stayed with me. When he got up this morning his bed and blanket were covered in puke. So he stayed with me and had seemed fine all day, besides not eating anything. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Joey won't get Luke's bug.

Welcome to the Toddler years

I know that Luke has been a toddler longer than I am willing to admit it. In the last several weeks things have happened and I can't fight anymore.
1.) The Tylenol accident: When your baby climbs in a sneaky way to get to something they know they aren't suppose to be messing with they are a toddler.
2.) We ask for a hug and they run the other way and smile from across the room, they are a toddler.
3.) When they look at a food item that they have been eating for ever and shake their head no, they are a toddler.
4.) When they are completely exhausted from a field trip with big brother and an evening at the YMCA, but when you put them to bed and they look up at you and say "No play!" They have become a toddler.
But with as much growing up as he is doing, he still likes to cuddle up with his thumb in his mouth and his head on my shoulder. When ask if he is my baby, he always answers yes.

First field trip

Today was Joey's first field trip. All the 4 year olds went to the Number 1 Fire Station here in Pensacola. They have been learning about fire safety this week at school and 911. They all seemed to really enjoy themselves.
Joey and his best buddy Tucker

They were watching a fire safety video.

They dressed Tucker's mom up in the whole fire fighter get up.

The kids really got into this. A year ago, Joey would have walked away.

Luke and Nicolette seemed to enjoy each other's company.Waiting in line to get in a fire truck.
Getting helpI think for just a second he thought he was a real fireman.
His whole class
Karina, Sophie, Tucker,Jacob, Mariana, Joey, Kaitlyn, Carl, Mallory
After the fire station, we were suppose to go to park for a picnic and some play. Of course, it is pouring rain. So a change in plan, we went to a recreation center. We had lunch on the floor and then played afterwards.

Luke Driving

Remind me to never ride with Luke, especially since he doesn't steer.

Working outside

So we have worked outside the entire day. We really should have been cleaning up on the inside. Of course, it was much to pretty to be inside. We mowed the yard, power washed the fence, pulled weeds in the flower gardens, picked up sticks from the pecan trees, blowed off the side walks, and even grilled and ate dinner outside. In a few weeks we are having a Halloween party at our house, so we started putting out some decorations also.

I need to get some pumpkins to sit on the straw also.

These ghosts are the ones that were made by Joey, Kev and Andrea for the Thomas tree.

GB, this is the Pumpkin that you Pappa got Kevin years ago.

The Apology

For the last few weeks Joey has come home complaining that the boys have been calling him "Booger face!" and "Snotty nose!" He has had a cold so it really has been true. I figured that I wasn't going to get involved in this. I mean he needs to learn to fight his own battles. If he doesn't like it then he needs to speak up and tell the boys this. Tucker, the boy that is probably his best friend, started this and got all the other boys calling him this. Joey and Tucker are typical boys, best friends one minute and can't stand each other the next. Well earlier this week Mrs. Nancy found out that they were calling Joey these names. She got on all kids that were calling him these names. She made them apologize. Joey says that apologize means you say you are sorry. Now all the boys call him "Joey."

Next week is Tucker's birthday, so Joey has been talking a lot about his birthday. He wants to go to McDonald's for his birthday party. I guess I will be looking into this.

A Joyous afternoon

We spent the afternoon outside playing and getting dirty. We lots of fun playing in the backyard.
Grandpa Flesher, Luke apparently wanted a convertible. He took the top off a few weeks ago.

Swinging and having a snack.
This evening I gave these two dirty boys a bath and then took Luke on a walk. Then Luke went to bed. Joey and I spent some time with Alvin. Joey really enjoyed watching him run in his wheel. He said "Mom, I am so happy I am Alvin's daddy!"
Alvin walking away from the wheel.
