Saturday

Today was Saturday. Not much to report. Joey and I dug up the remaining Potatoes from the garden. Joey says that the big one is the biggest in the history of the world. The other day when we were at Home Depot, Joey decided that he couldn't live without a Pineapple plant. We decided to try it. I got my haircut and colored today and it looks great. The picture doesn't show truly how great it looks. After dinner we made some smores and Luke really enjoyed them.

Small World

My first job was at Wendy's in Waverly, Ohio. Last night at my current job I met the man that owned that Wendy's. He also owns the Wendy's in Pensacola. Isn't that weird.

Great news

Just got the official word today that Joey will get to go to St. Paul's Lutheran Church for his K4 Program starting in the fall. We are super excited.

This morning I ask Joey to give me 5 and he wouldn't, but Luke came running with his hand held high. So I gave him 5 and he just last. We didn't know he knew how.

A few other things I love

Both boys like to swing

Luke decided he is too big for a baby swing

So much fun!
Watch Joey swing also

First to dinner, last to finish

My flowers

This flower looked like it was going to die, but with a little love it is gorgeous.

Things I love

Pretending to be Indiana Jones
You must have a whip to be Indiana Jones

Eating one of his favorite meals Beeferoni followed by pudding and whipped cream

Eating a yummy peach

Enjoying his peach

I love eating breakfast outside with my boys. We had cinnamon toast and Luke ate 4 pieces while Joey couldn't finish one.
I love it when my car is clean and I always say it will never get that dirty again, but it always does.
I love that Joey is so interested in watching things grow. I love that when we go to Home Depot he can find plants that he must have so he can watch them grow.
I love to watch Luke eat and enjoy his meals. I love that he likes and gets so much pleasure from a good meal.
I love to hear Luke say new words. We sort of missed this with Joey.
I love that my boys have blankets, but don't tell them. They get awful dirty and smell awful, but they are great to me and my boys.
I love watching Joey teach Luke about stuff. It can be something simple or sort of complex. Joey teaches him just like Kev would teach Joey.
I love pretending with Joey. He can pretend anything. He wants to experience everything in this world and thinks he can.
I peaches and the fact that I bought 7 peaches at 9am and Joey and Luke ate them all by 10:30. They just couldn't get enough.
I mostly love my boys and my husband who also falls into one of my boys.

Indiana Jones

We are soon off to see Indiana Jones. We, as in, Joey, Kev and myself, the little Luke wouldn't be interested in stuff like this. You see, he has a more complicated mind than we do or at least that is what I choose to think at this time. I know that the day will come when he too will be excited about Power Rangers, any Super Hero and of course the above mentioned Indiana Jones. But until that day comes, I will let myself believe that he has a mind much more interesting than the rest of us.

In the last few days, Joey has taken to pretending to be Indiana Jones in the backyard. He pretends to use a whip to do all sort of things.

Update: Have been to the movie and now Joey wants to be Indiana Jones now more than ever.

Sickness all around

So I called into work last night since I started puking. Then at 10pm last night we were awaken to the sounds of Joey screaming. He had puked all over his bed. He continued to wake up like 5 more times to puke and quickly go back to sleep. Today has been better as far as puking. But Joey and I have just laid on the couch.
Kev was nice enough to call into work to take care of us. He was helpful. He prepared meals for Luke and kept the Joe Man and myself supplied with drinks.
Hopefully tomorrow things will be better.

Washing Machine in Overdrive

Monday morning Luke was playing in Joey's room and he threw up everywhere. I got him cleaned up and then Joey's room cleaned up. Luke went to take a nap and then he never ever acted sick again.
All day yesterday we ran around and he played and acted fine. Sometime during the night get sick and threw up all over himself and his bed. The boy just went back to sleep. So before Kev left he went into check on him and found him like this. So I got him up and got him in the bath and threw all of his stuff in the wash, including his blanket. Of course, the loss of the blanket made everything worse.
The good news is the blanket is clean and dry. He is hanging out on the couch with a little Kool-Aid.
Hopefully, Joey won't get this.

Brunch

We had a MOMS Club brunch today.  I discussed with Joey how brunch was like lunch and breakfast together.  He thought that was funny.

We got there and Joey run to play with the kids.  Luke hung with me for awhile.  Believe it or not he always acts shy for just a minute or so and then he takes off.  Luke was very happy to eat.  Someone brought this super yummy french toast casserole that Luke would have eaten the entire dish.  In fact, when she left and took the dish he cried.  She is suppose to send me the recipe.  After eating, Luke played.  He was very interested in the twin 4 month old boys.  Their mom ask Luke if he was a baby.  He answered very quickly with "MomMom's Babee!"

Joey played more than he ate.  He did eat quick things that he could throw in his mouth.  He played mostly with Ben and another redheaded boy named Addison.  Joey took his batman mask and his spiderman cape.  Ben is very impressed with pretend, so he loved it.  Joey shared some, but he wouldn't share both the mask and the cape at once.
So we get home and Luke was ready for a nap.  I tell Joey it is his nap time and he explains that he hasn't had lunch.  So I had to make him some lunch.

To sum the last few days up

We have been really busy the last few days.  Of course, I wrote about Saturday, but it hasn't stopped.  Here are a few pictures of our adventures.

We went to the Pelican's game and they had a kid's area.  Luke likes to jump.

This is Paxton and Joey.  Paxton is Ted and Deanna's son they were at the Pelican's game and we just ran into them.  Of course, the boys loved each other.

Cleaning up the mess

This seems to be what I get stuck doing every Monday.  I work those 2 nights shifts and then I have no energy to get work done around here until Monday.  By Monday, it is really bad so that is what I do.  Clean, Clean, Clean and then clean some more.  Of course, today is no different than any other Monday.  Except, Luke puked in Joey's room so I am not only cleaning up the normal stuff but also puke.  I was thankful that it was Monday and I wash sheets on Monday, so he didn't add that much work for me.

I won some Pelican baseball tickets for tonight.  So I will be taking Joey to see the game.  Kev and Luke will stay home.

Hopefully Luke will be feeling better because tomorrow we are suppose to go to a brunch with MOMS Club.  Everyone knows that brunch is great when you can also play with the kids.

I will post pictures later of our boat ride yesterday.  It was Luke's first boat ride and he loved it.

Why do we celebrate de Luna and the 5 Flags?

In 1559, Don Tristan de Luna, a Spanish Conquistador settled in what is now known as Pensacola.  A few months later a hurricane occurred and then de Luna and his people had to leave the area in search of food and other supplies.  This is why Pensacola is known as the first settlement, not the first city St. Augustine gets that honor.  Since the days of Don Tristan de Luna, Pensacola has flow 5 flags, the Spanish, French, British, Confederate, and the United States.
This is your history lesson for the day.  Next year should be a huge celebration, because it will be 450 years.

A wonderful Saturday

This day has been full of firsts.  I worked the last two nights.  I rushed home and slept for a quick 2 hours and got up and went to the mother's day tea.  Now those of you that know me know that I am not a very girly girl and don't know much about tea and the sorts, but thought I wanted to go to this.  It was absolutely wonderful.  I had a wonderful time with my friends from MOMS Club.

Everyone at the Mother's Day Tea
This was my door prize.
After the tea I had to rush back to Pensacola to a park for the Fiesta of 5 Flags Kid's Treasure Hunt.  Joey participated in the 3-4 year old group and had a blast.  The kids had to find 10 silver coins and then they would turn them in for a bag of toys.  It was so fun to watch the kids get the coins.  Parents weren't allowed to help get the coins.

Work

Well you all know that when you work night shift that you can get forgotten and if you work part-time and night shift you can really get forgotten. So this was a big shock for me this morning. I had a patient that was not doing real well last night. We have what we call an ACT team that we can call for emergency type events that isn't a code. At any rate, I felt it was important that we call an ACT on this man because he was having severe chest pain and nothing I was doing was relieving it. He has multiple health problems and it could have been a wide range of problems causing his chest pain. Before I left work this morning my boss stopped me and said she was really excited to see me working more shifts this summer. Then she handed me this note from the house supervisor that she had just got. Amy, (that is my boss) I just wanted to let you know that I responded to the ACT called on room 410 on 5/15/08. Your nurse, Andrea did a great job in calling the ACT and was very calm in responding to the situation. She had already done all she could do from her medication stand point and when I arrived to the room, they (her and Ginger) were in the process of doing an EKG on the patient. The EKG machine did not work properly, so they had to call for back up. However, they acted proficient and knowlegable as we all worked together to get this gentleman some help. I do not have thank you cards to send to them, but would appreciate it if you let them know that I mentioned it to you. I've already expressed my gratitude to Ginger. Denise This was also sent to the director of nursing services and she came by this morning to meet me and thank me for my service. Of course, I was almost on the elevator, but I still talked to her for about 30 seconds.

All good things must come to an end

We have had such fun the last few days.  Today not so much.  The boys have been in a constant state of tears.  Luke has fallen more than I can count.  Joey has cried about his back hurting, he has a sunburn.  I did try to prevent the sunburn, but yesterday I could only find SPF 35 and we all have seen how fair skinned he is, he needs at least the 50.  So all day long, but during the 2 hour nap time some has been crying.  At this point, I think I might join them.

I am tired.  The dogs were awake barking at God knows what at midnight last night and then my husband kept me up snoring.  Finally at 3:30 AM I decided that I would go sleep in the living room and this was fine until 5:30 when Joey woke up crying over his sunburnt back.  So when I don't get proper rested I get to the point where I want to cry also.

Right now it is quiet for a few minutes the clean and dry blankets were returned to their appropriate owners.  Thus right now two boys are in heaven and could want nothing more from good old mom.  I think I will daydream of a time when there was no boys and no noise and the only thing I had to worry about was myself and when I think about that time, I just get depressed.  I think how boring that time was, how I couldn't laugh a million times a day about Spiderman or The Wiggles, I didn't get as many hugs, nor did I fix all the problems of the world just by a simple kiss.  I guess I need those two little boys as much as they need me.  I realize that as much I enjoy being a nurse, I enjoy being a mommy more.  I also realize that we must take the good with the bad, so I wouldn't give up days of tears or days of cheers.

Just a fun day

LUKE AND JOEY BEFORE THE EVENING WALK

These last few days have been so much fun.  We, the boys and I, have just been hanging out and having lots of fun together.  Today was no different.  This morning we had a playdate at Osceola Park.  It was nice.  I think that 5 moms and their kids showed up.  All the kids played good together.  Luke just walks around a lot and smiles.  He sort of reminds me of my neighbor, Sean when he was little.  Sean would just follow the group and as soon as he caught up with the group, the group would leave.  Well that sums up Luke, he walks and smiles and then decides he will join the group then when he gets there the group leaves.

You know how you hear about babies needing rocked to go to sleep.  Well that isn't Luke at all. He prefers to take his evening walk.  He doesn't care if you walk a mile or two or just around the block.  He just wants his walk.  He looks for dogs and cats and sucks his thumb and cuddles with his blanket.  Now if Joey doesn't want to go that is fine with Luke.

Now Joey has always enjoyed his home.  He would prefer to stay home, but Luke is always ready to go.  If he thinks we need to go he will be standing at the door screaming, waiting on the rest of us.

Backyard fun

Have been hanging out in the backyard the last few day.  We got the boys a new swimming pool to have fun in this summer and they sure.  We try to have the dream backyard for two little boys.

Tomorrow we are hosting a play date at Osceola park.  It should be lots and lots of fun.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there.  I plan on having a wonderful day myself.

I worked my two nights.  Then yesterday we worked on stepping stones for GB and BB for Mother's Day.  Then in the evening we went to a parade downtown.  That is always lots of fun.

Nothing exciting planned for today, but we will see what we can get into.

Gulfarium

We went to the Gulfarium today with MOMS Club. It was sort of neat, but I thought it was over priced. A lot of people didn't go because of the drive and then they were having school groups in today. So we only met two other women. After the Gulfarium we (the boys and I) went to Hogs Breath Saloon for lunch. Both boys were super hungry and ate lots of fish toes.

Wow, I just realized that we have really been running around lately. Not going to stop anytime soon. We have lots more planned over the next several weeks.

Luke

Luke at the Gulfarium

Luke likes Sea Lions and he laughed a lot at them

Joey at the Gulfarium

Joey and some birds

Me and Luke, Joey would not be in our picture.
Dolphins, Luke is afraid of these, they made him cry. A lady that worked there said she didn't think she had ever seen a child that was afraid of the dolphins.
Tricks
More of the dolphins
Just so you all know. Luke is starting to talk. He is a very big blanket man and he can't say blanket, so he calls it his "Baa!" This is significant only because that is exactly what Kev called his diaper that he carried around for a long time. Kev is so excited, he says that there is just a little of himself in Luke. I guess Luke didn't get the Marine Biology gene since he is afraid of dolphins.

Just an ordinary day

Yesterday the boys got mail from GB. Just a little note, but enclosed was some money from BB. I needed to go to Walmart so each of the boys got a new toy. Now Joey knew right from the start he was going to get a Transformer. When we got there he soon changedd his mind for Iron Man. Joey picked out a million different toys for Luke, but Luke was able to get his own. He picked out a Nascar.

Joey and Iron Man

This is Luke stealing the Minnie Mouse cup from Joey. For some reason the boys fight over this cup. This is the cup that they both always want. I know if I had two they wouldn't want it at all.

Now Luke is drinking from it and you should almost be able to hear Joey squealing in the background.

Luke and his new toy

Both boys playing with their toys.

After this we headed outside. Joey was running all over the backyard being a Hero. He was protecting me and Luke from the evils of the world, because we surely didn't have time to take care of it.

Luke in the Jeep

I lost the blanket battle today The boys going to the swing set One can't put a blanet down to go slide.

Even while sliding I am getting shot with webs.

Now here is a brief video of Luke doing some talking for you.
