Things we learned on the first day of school

Things Joey learned
1.) Eating breakfast is very important. He said he was about to starve by lunch time. He ate a bowl of cereal yesterday and this morning a waffle and three pieces of bacon and orange juice.
2.) Recess is amazing.
3.) That some kids don't listen.
4.) That he really enjoys it.

Things I learned
1.) I have to really encourage Joey to eat more for breakfast. A bowl of cereal isn't going to cut it right now.
2.) If I didn't walk him back there, he'd forget what he was doing and might forget to go to school. He is easily distracted by feathers, sticks, rocks.
3.) The people driving cars are fools and neither one of the boys will ever be old enough to walk back there alone.
4.) Even though I was able to get myself to my classroom without help in kindergarten I think it is to much to ask these little kids. The difference is I went to a place with just kindergartners and Joey's classroom is in the back of the school.
5.) I have to be super organized.

The day is over

We all survived Joey's first day of school. Till about 11:30, Luke pouted because his Joe Joe was at school. He went into the playroom and sat on the bean bag chair. He never gets to sit there when Joey is home. Then he played with some imaginary guys (he informed me that I don't know them) and with them he went to Walmart, Daddy's school, but he told me that he'd be back to get Joe Joe.
So we walked up to Sherwood to get Joey. The walkers are dismissed first at 1:50. Luke and I were right there waiting. We weren't sure where to wait, but we found Joey. He told us that he had such a good time. He loves his teacher. He told us his favorite part of the day was recess. He said "There were no 2 year olds or 3 year olds outside only kindergartners." When he got home he showed me the work he did and told me the part he did wrong. He apparently told his teacher that he sort of messed it up a little and she told him that it was fine for the first day. He also colored a picture of a bear, it had a something on it about brown. Joey said that some kids messed it up, because you were suppose to color the bear brown and he did what he was suppose to. He said he was tired, but I couldn't get him to lay down for anything.
We headed to tae kwon do tonight. He is doing an amazing job with his new yellow belt form. Mrs. Poff is super proud of him.

The big day is here

Today is Joey's big day at school. He started kindergarten. I can't believe it. Luke is so sad. He almost cried at Joey's school. He kept saying "I want to go with Joe Joe! I don't want to be 2, I want to be 5!" Since we have been home, I haven't been able to get him to do anything. He is just sitting quietly on the couch. This boy is never ever quiet. This is going to be a long day today for him. I hope I can get him to take a nap early so when we pick Joey up he can just spend time with him.
Happy Luke eating his breakfast.
The two men ready for their 1st day of school. Notice Joey has tie shoes on.
Here the big boy is.
Joey in his place of honor in his class room. 22 kids in his class.
The very sad Luke. The thumb hasn't left his mouth much this morning.

Happy 450th Pensacola!!!

Last night was the street party to celebrate 450 years of Pensacola. This is the final event to celebrate the 450th. I am sort of sad about that. We have got to see and do so much for it. Well the celebration started about 5pm. We got down there a little past 5pm. We walked around and signed the World's Largest Birthday card. Joey signed his name backwards, he hasn't done that in a long time. He also was a great big brother and signed Luke's name.
The worst part was the meal. They got local chef's that are from the best restaurants in Pensacola to fix Spanish food. I have decided that the Spanish left Spain in search of something to eat. The boys were right on they got hotdogs and chips.
The Washington High school drum line came and Joey wants a drum set for Christmas now. The Florida A&M band came and they are amazing.
We made it to see one of the most awesome firework displays ever. Everyone had a wonderful time. Both boys had no problems getting to sleep. When I carried Joey into his room he looked up at me and said "That was a perfect birthday celebration for the Earth!" I corrected him and in a soft whisper he said "I meant Pensacola!"
Sir Joey
This might be the orneriest knight ever
Joey signing Luke's name for him.
The Turner's say Happy Birthday to Pensacola
I hope I can sign an even bigger card in 50 years.
Elvis even came to celebrate
Waiting on the Florida A&M rattlers
Long live Spain
The Rattlers, they were awesome
The Fireman let Joey put his gear on
Heading back down to the park, to play and listen to music.
Daddy and Luke trying to stay awake for fireworks.
Luke has plenty of energy
Joey was practicing his cartwheels. Every minute or so he ask "Have I missed the fireworks?"
Luke giving me some love

Funnies from my boys.

Luke has been talking about "sexy". It started with him telling me I was sexy, to Tinker Bell being sexy, and finally that I need to take a shower so I would be sexy.
Tonight the boys were in bed and making a lot of noise. So Kev knocked on the door hoping to quiet them down, but instead they said "What was that?" Then Joey in a very innocent voice said "Who is it?" I couldn't help but laugh and Kevin yelled at me for laughing.
Luke dropped a popsicle outside today. He came in the house and said "Mommy, I cannot eat this. It is nasty!"
At lunch Luke said the blessing "God is good, God is good, God is good. A man! Who is the man?"
Joey ask Kevin today "When we have another kid, will you make him a bed too?"

I do spend a lot of time laughing at them. They are the funniest people I know.
