The calm before the storm!!!

The last few days have been the calm before the storm. I had to get Tuesday off so I could go see the Orthopedic doctor. In getting that day off, I had to agree to work Saturday. I work Friday, Saturday, off Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday I do CPR in the afternoon, and Thursday. Saturday we leave for Ohio. So I will be useless this next week. But I have enjoyed some nice quiet time with my boys the last few days. Today I took the boys to a Mom's Club event, then this afternoon we headed to the beach and then this evening I did a Mom's night out event.
Over the last few weeks Luke went from hating to read to loving to read. He is constantly stopping us to read him a book. This morning I had the pleasure of reading him like 3 books. If you choose not to read to him he cries and throws a terrible fit.
My mom is on vacation and sent the boys a post card. Both post cards had buffalo on them. I handed Luke his post card and he said "Ah, buff!" and pointed to the buffalo. I didn't even know he knew what a buffalo was. This evening he showed Kev the post card and told him "buff lo!" He scares me at how smart he is.
Of course, Joey is smart also. He is looking forward to school this fall. He tells me that all the kids will love him and will ask him to help them learn about animals. He says his dad taught him all about animals. Today at the beach, he found a living sand dollar and he brought it to me and told we could hold it, but it would have to go back in the water. Luke wanted to eat it.
I thought I should also tell you all that Kev and Joey camped out in the living room the other night. Joey stayed up super late and had a ball. Kev slept in the tent until 1am and then he swears that he went back to the tent at 2am. He had a great time also, now he wants to figure out a place to take him outside this fall.

Ignore me in these pictures. I had just gotten out of the shower and had barely combed my hair, when I was forced to read. Luke is in charge of turning the pages.

Camping out

Earlier this week Kev and Joey were going to camp out in the living room, but Joey didn't take a nap that day and he was grumpy. Tonight is the night. They are ready. We will see how this works tonight. Kev claims he wants to take him camping, but every time I suggest it he comes up with a reason why he can't. I bet Joey makes it all night in the tent, but Kev doesn't.

Shot Please!!!

So I met Dr. De Jong today. He is an orthopedic surgeon. The first thing he discussed was that he wants to get me feeling a lot better. I got my third cortisone injection. He gave it to me in a completely different spot and I knew right away that he hit the right spot. It hurt instantly and by the time I got to my car my shoulder felt better than it has in months thanks to the numbing stuff. Then we also discussed my options that I am to think about. He feels that since I am so young and have had such a problem for so long that I was going to have problems with this shoulder no matter what. He feels that I have a bone spur that is causing me much problems. He said it has probably been there for awhile and with the trauma has really started to cause me pain. He talked like no matter what at some point this shoulder was going to cause pain for me. He said he feels if I choose to not have surgery that I am looking at this bone spur rubbing over the rotator cuff and eventually causing a complete tear of the rotator cuff. So I am to be thinking about this surgery and then on August 19th we will discuss more of it. For some reason, he said he'd be getting good information by injecting the area. He said in 95% of the cases if he injects it and then does surgery and can fix the problem completely. I am praying that I can be in the 95%. He said that we would be in no rush for surgery, but he did feel that was my best option. So I have thought about it and well, I want to do the surgery.

YIPEE!!!

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow at 10am with Dr. De Jong the orthopedic surgeon. YAY!!! I can't wait!!!

I have a reading man

Luke has not been a reading man. In fact, when we have tried to read to him he has squirmed and moved all around and fought to get away from you. That is until recently. Now he likes to read and once you start to read then you must read the same book over and over again. This morning we read Mama Mama and Papa Papa. So he has been walking around the house saying "Papa Papa."

Watermelon

So why on Earth would we think we need to grow Watermelon??? First because it is fun to watch stuff grow. Secondly because a whole watermelon is over $5 at the store and 6 watermelon plants were less than $5 at Home Depot.
They are growing

This one is getting close to eat!!!
The final reason to plant watermelon is that these boys are going through it as fast as I buy it. Maybe when the watermelon are finally ripe then I won't go in the poor house buying watermelon. Because I bought a watermelon today at Publix and it is gone already.
Joey enjoying watermelon.

Both boys enjoying watermelon.
Finally when there is no watermelon to eat then one must settle for a popsicle. As you can see, he has a rough life. He gets to lounge on the couch with a pillow behind his head, his favorite blanket in hand and a popsicle in the other.

Sunday is busy

Today is busy!!! Kev is putting up our new garage door opener since the old one died the other day. We didn't want to head to Ohio without our garage locked. He seems to think it is much easier this time around with the installation process.
I took Joey and Luke with me to Publix for some grocery shopping. I have been making Kev go so he can push the cart, but since he was busy with the garage door opener I had to suck it up. Now my shoulder is aching like there is no tomorrow. I am trying to get the floors clean now. I figure if my shoulder is going to be hurting a bunch I might as well do all the things that make it hurt more.
Tonight Joey and Kev are going to put a tent up in the living room and go camping in the living room. It is very hot outside and Joey has been wanting to go camping.
Soon we will have watermelon that we grew. I hope they taste good. Even if they don't Joey will eat them and swear they are the best he has ever had.
