Making a lot of changes.

I have decided that I need to get in awesome shape. I mean I have two boys and I want to keep up with them for a long time. I have taken up running. I really enjoy it. I have a goal to run in my first 5K on July 3rd, the Firecracker 5K for the Ronald McDonald House of Pensacola. I feel if I can do it, then I will be honoring Thomas also. Kev was going to run it with me, but he has had a small set back when he hurt his back a few weeks ago.
I also feel like getting in better shape will help me get more focused. I have decided I want to go back to school. I will be taking an accounting class this fall at PJC and then taking the GRE in the winter and hopefully fall of 2011 will be enrolled in UWF. I want to get a Master's in Healthcare Administration. Hopefully I will be able to get a job here in Pensacola, if not will be looking some place in Florida. I would like to eventually work for Studor Group or Joint Commission. While the boys are young, I don't want a job that I'd have to do a lot of travel.

Sad

These last few weeks have been really sad for us. The beach that we love so much, maybe ruined from a massive oil spoil in the Gulf of Mexico. It is funny, because I never realized how much I loved it until I knew it might be ruined. It is more than my home, it is more importantly a home to so many animals. I never considered myself an animal lover like some people I know, but I appreciate animals more than I knew. I am a nature lover, thus all the hiking we do. I like to get outside and see the world that is alive. When you get out there, away from the hustle and bustle of our busy life, there is so much more life out there. For the most part, the animals don't need us to live life. They for sure don't need oil or heat or electric and you know what they do just fine on their own. So once again, we humans, people that think of themselves as the superior creature, we are ruining things. I pray that it won't be as bad as I think. I am sure that this will always be an important part of Joey's life. I have a feeling that this oil spoil will give him a reason for his life as an adult. He is worried for the turtles, birds, sharks, fish and all the animals in the ocean. He will never forget this, I can tell the way he talks about it.

Long day

Sunday evening Kev went on a short jog, when he came home he said he hurt his back. He didn't do much. He tried to get sleep, but he was unable to sleep because he hurt so much. At 4am he decided he would not work. I took Joey to school, when I got home Luke and Kev were waiting in the car. They were waiting for me to take them to Pine Forest. Kev needed to get some stuff ready for the sub. While we were at Pine Forest he got ahold of Dr. Freitas and also a chiropractor. So from Pine Forest, I drove Kev to Dr. Freitas' office. Dr. Freitas checked him out and decided that he has a spasm of one of the back muscles. He gave him an anti inflammatory and also a muscle relaxer. He also said that a chiropractor might be a lot of help for him. So from there we headed to the chiropractor. The chiropractor assessed him and ordered an xray and told him to come back afterwards for some treatment. After we left the chiropractor's office we went to Lenny's Subs for lunch. Then we took Kev to the Imagine Center for his xrays. While we were there Luke fell asleep and I had to leave Kev there so I could get Joey from school. After getting Joey, headed back to pick Kev up. We came home for about an hour. Then Kev had his appointment. Afterwards, his pain decreased some, but he is still in a lot of pain. We finally got home at 6:15pm.
Today Kev is home from work again. I hope he starts to feel better.

Perfect Day

Today we headed to Fort Pickens at Pensacola Beach. We first had a picnic and then we ran around the Fort and then off to the beach. I ended my day with a nice little run.

Weekend in a nutshell

Friday evening, Daddy took the boys to Barnes and Noble for a bedtime story time with Spot. They served hot chocolate and cookies. Luke was not in the mood for story time and did not cooperate. Apparently, he wouldn't leave the train area and then he said he didn't want hot chocolate or a cookie. When they were ready to leave he cried all the way home because he wanted hot chocolate.
Joey and Spot. Joey said that this was lots of fun.

Luke was interested in trains.
Storytime
Saturday when I woke up we were suppose to load everything up and go camping. First problem was nothing was done before I got up. Second problem was there was no plan and all of the camp grounds close to us were full. So we headed home. We camped in the backyard. At 1:30, Luke woke up and wanted to go to his bed. So Kev took him in the house and they slept the rest of the night in the house. Joey and I roughed it.
Sunday the boys sent the entire day outside playing in a hole that Winnie dug. They played for hours in the dirt. They had a delightful day and got filthy. Joey doesn't usually get really dirt but he did yesterday.

Weight loss

I am happy to announce that since October I have lost 10 pounds. I need to lose at least 10 more to be healthy. I gained plenty of weight with each pregnancy then I had the shoulder injury that put me in constant pain for over a year. For over a year, I tried to take care of two boys while I was in extreme pain. I am fairly rough and tough and I have a very high pain tolerance, but between waking up several times during the night in pain and just hurting all the time. I was so wore out all I did was the bare minimum.
In October, I decided to start running. This is something that I do enjoy. I am not fast and I am not consistent. Now that it is warming up, I am going to be getting out and running more. I am also going to take Joey with me. He enjoys it. He motivates me to go farther.

Not sure

Not sure what I am doing with this. I mean I set it up with hopes that I could put pictures on here for family and friends far away from us. GB can't figure out how to pull it up. I have to email the grandparents when I update it. So I am not sure if anyone looks at this and if it is worth it to keep. If you read it and think I should keep it. Let me know by comment.

Weekend Hiking

Last weekend and this weekend we have gone on a hike. Today we headed to Bear Lake in the Black Water State Forest. Before we began the hike we had a lovely picnic lunch. Then we went on a 4 mile hike. I must say 4 miles is a little long for Luke and so we will be looking for 2 miles from here on out. Everyone had a good time and the boys went to bed at 7:30pm without any problems.
The Picnic as you can see we didn't rough it much.
This is the beautiful Bear Lake.

That is right we made it 4 miles.

Heart

Joey was raising money for the American Heart Association, he was in a jump rope a-thon. He called his grandparents and got money from a few friends. He ended up with $92. I thought this was a nice amount. I never ever would have imagined that it was the most for a kid to raise at Sherwood Elementary school. Tomorrow Channel 3 news will come to his school to interview Mrs. Patterson and she will present Joey with a special award. He is super excited.
The funny part is when he called his Grandpa Turner, he ask Joey how much money he should send. Joey told him that he should send $3000. So imagine, how much time he would have gotten on tv with a donation like that.

This house has been sick

For the last 2-3 weeks someone in this house has been sick. It started with Joey got him on his antibiotic, then I got it and finally Luke.
I think we are all on the mend. Hopefully this week we can do some fun stuff instead of just laying around the house feeling bad.

Still one of my favoritesf

This is still one of my favorite pictures of Luke. He never cried at all. He seemed to enjoy himself the whole day. I think he was 8 weeks old in this picture.

Mardi Gras

Yesterday was the Pensacola Mardi Gras parade. It was like always a very exciting special day for the whole family. We were lucky enough to have my friend Mary and her daughter Sophia and Bruce there to watch with us. The boys had a ton of fun.
The boys found a good place to watch.
Sometimes you need a break from a parade to run and play.

Even the trees got some beads.

No Snow on the snow day

That is right we had not one single flake at our house. There are 2 disappointed boys at my house.

No School tomorrow

Tomorrow is officially cancelled for the threat of snow. We might get 1-3 inches of snow at our house tomorrow, so they cancelled school. I will be amazed if I see the white stuff. Joey is hopeful that he can make a snowman.

Buzz Lightyear

Luke has fallen in love with Buzz Lightyear. He plays with Buzz Lightyear all day long. In the last few days he has decided we should call him Buzz.
This is the Buzz Lightyear shirt he suckered me into buying him.

Weekend

In addition to going to the game we spent the night in Daphne and then went to the USS Alabama and then to the Explorium to see the Dinosaurs.

Senior Bowl

We headed to the Senior Bowl on Saturday. It was a pretty neat thing to experience. Of course, it was cold and windy. We only stayed till half time, but it was worth it. We will have to go back another time.
They were announcing the teams.

Luke watched very little of the game, he socialized, played and ate.
