Allergies oh my

Took Joey to the allergist today. Dr. Rinney recommended this since he has been having so many ear infections. We met Dr. Cleveland this afternoon. We were told that it would be a 2 hour appointment, it sure was. He came in and talked to ask got some simple questions out of the way. He explained to me that with children 6 and older he tests for about 12 common allergens. He first did the back panel which showed nothing. Both Dr. Cleveland and his nurse were shocked. So Dr. Cleveland had him do a bubble test on his arm for dust mites, dogs, and something else. He tested positive for dust mites and dogs. He feels that the dust mites are the worst for him. So we will need to spend about $200 to get dust mite covers for his mattress, box springs, and pillow. His sheets will need to be washed once a week in hot water. Happy (the beloved pound puppy) will need washed in hot water every 3 weeks or put in the freezer every 3 weeks. We need to make sure that his floor is swept everyday. As far as the dogs, they are not allowed in the boys room ever. The dogs will need brushed every other day and washed at least once a week. When he plays with dogs he will need to wash his hands immediately. He also put him on a nasal steroid everyday no matter what. When we travel we have some extra stuff to get if he gets aggravated. He says this is definitely causing the ear infections. He does not feel that he will need shots and that we can treat it with just these few simple things.

Brotherly love

This was this evening, the boys were watching a movie in the playroom. They love this bean bag chair and in fact fight over it often. They were all cuddled up watching the movie.

Growing up so quickly

Since Joey has started kindergarten I have noticed him growing more than ever before. I don't know really how, just little things I have noticed have reminded me that he is growing up. He is becoming more responsible and more creative. He has learned to read two words A and THE. He has learned a shape or two, but for the most part he has learned to fit in with the kids at kindergarten. He says that they kids are a lot nicer than the kids at his preschool. The surprised me, but after volunteering a few weeks I think he might be right. He has gone from never wanting to color to wanting to and doing very well. He is just growing up so quickly right now.
This is the first painting he made in art class.
The boys had to get new Alabama jerseys. Joey had outgrown his and so had Luke. So Kevin got Joey to write a note to Mike Johnson to ask him to sign them. Joey was super excited to do this.
Joey working hard.
Joey and his letter to Mike.
The letter. I think he did a wonderful job.

Busy end of the week

I should be asleep right now, but the doctor's office woke me up. Wednesday when I picked Joey up from school he said that his left ear hurts. He never has an earache even when it is terrible. So I knew that I couldn't get him into see Dr. Grier that day, so I took him to Urgent Care. This was a waste of my time and my money. The PA that saw him wasn't impressed and told me that it wasn't bad at all. She said it was red, but not over the entire eardrum. She told me that he would not require antibiotics and he would just get over it. She did give me a prescription for an antibiotic that doesn't help him at all, I told her that it would not help him. She told me, well this is what I like to order. She told me not to fill the antibiotic unless he got much sicker. That evening he had a rough time, his ear really hurt him. He even woke up in the middle of the night. Thursday morning came and he wanted to go to school. I sent him, but gave him Motrin first. When I walked him back to school he ask me to call Dr. Grier's office so she could see him. Called got him an appointment with Dr. Rinney, Dr. Grier is on maternity leave. Dr. Rinney was told about the ear and taking him to Urgent Care. He looked and said that his ear was bright red and bulging. He said that I should not take him to Urgent Care, just bring him to the office, because he got poor care there. He then ordered an antibiotic, told me to use numbing ear drops and motrin for pain. He decided that he needs to see an allergist. He says he has the classic look of an allergy kid. He says if the allergist can't figure out something then he might need to go back to the ENT. So Wednesday Joey is going to the allergist.
Yesterday Aaron and Jenny welcomed Nathan Henry into the world. Congrats to them. I wish I could hold him. I am really good at holding boys. I can't wait to meet Nathan, I just don't know when it will be.
Yesterday we also went to open house at Joey's school. He showed us all around. Luke decided that he wants to go to Sherwood and be in Mrs. Enfinger's class. Mrs. Enfinger had donuts, so I think Luke thinks that Joey just eats donuts and plays with a kitchen set all day long. Joey took us to the Art room and Luke kept screaming, "I want to do Art!"
Today I booked the Disney Trip. We are going the week of Disney, the 1st part of the week. I am so excited to watch the boys.

Funny things he says

Luke is constantly cracking me up with things that he says.
The other day he said "Mommy, I love your soft dog hair!"
At church we had a breakfast and we sat with this lady and he said "Why is she pretending to be a neigh?"
"Joe Joe isn't nice like you. He doesn't give me meat!"
"Daddy is my best friend when he isn't mad at me."
Kev showed him a green crayon and he ask him what color it was. Luke answered "It is Oscar." We guess because Oscar the Grouch is green.
Today when Sesame Street came on, the song was on and he said "I know how to get there. Go to downtown Pensacola!"

Elmo Live

The date was a success. We had a wonderful time together. He was wild and crazy and made all of the other children look well behaved before the show, but once the show started I couldn't have ask him to be better. He was awesome. He was shocked and amazed.
When we got home, Joey met us at the car. Luke told him that he was sorry that he didn't get to go see Elmo, but it was just for him and me. Joey told him "It is OK Luke, I saw him when I was a kid. Elmo puts on a great live show!" That kid is so cool.
Luke and I before we left the house
Luke running around having a wonderful time at the Saenger Theater.
Getting ready to watch the most amazing show ever.

Elmo. We love him.

This was Luke glued to the show the entire time.
This is another picture to show you how much he loved it.
Ernie (Luke calls him Ermie)
Tonight when Luke was in bed, he was still super excited. He couldn't stop talking about the whole thing. He said he didn't know why Joe Joe didn't go. I think he feels sad for Joey, because he didn't get to do this.
