Update on life

The shoulder is doing great.  I saw Dr. DeJong today and I got to remove part of the sling.  I am able to go back to work, but I will need computer work or something I can wear a sling and do for at least 3 weeks.  I am not going to PT yet, he wants me to slowly work the stiffness out and if I am having trouble with that then he will send me to PT early.  He said I will go to PT for strengthening.  My mom will stay at least one more week.  We will see how things are going next week.  Dr. DeJong says the incision is looking great, but I had a reaction to the steri strips so it is red and has some bumps.
Joey went for his 5 year old check-up and he weighs 33 pounds and is 42 1/2 inches.  He had an ear infection, we had no clue.  They thought it was allergy related and gave him some allergy medicine.  He had taken that medicine when he was little and he would wake up and had bad dreams.  Well I thought maybe it was a different medicine or that he would do better.  Last night, he woke up screaming.  He didn't know anything or where he was.  He was really scared.  This morning he just had trouble waking up.  We won't give that to him again and I have a call out to Dr. Grier to see if we can change that.  His antibiotic is fine.
Luke is talking up a storm.  Something new everyday.  He has been play with a baby a lot.  He gives his baby a snack and puts them down and tells them "Night Night baby!"  He just seems to enjoy playing and pretending with them.  He talks about them being "Hurt!"  My mom says he is going to be a nurse.

can't believe it

i have next to no pain now.  my arm gets tired of being in the sling.  if i move the shoulder wrong i know it, but i have much less pain now than i have in a year.  last night i went to bed at 9 and slept till 9:30 this morning.  i took a nap today.  i can get comfortable in bed and sleep.  i haven't taken much pain medicine at all.  i just seem tired now, i think i am making up for a years worth of sleepless nights.
the boys are getting restless, they are missing having just me and kev around.  joey is ready to send my mom home and she understands.  of course, i can't drive yet and i might just fall asleep while watching the boys.  joey says it will be nice when i don't complain about my shoulder anymore.
yesterday i took the best shower of my lifetime.  it felt really good to get in the water and almost took another one last night, but couldn't keep my eyes open for it.

home sweet home

i got home around 4pm.  the surgery went well, no torn rotator cuff, only bursitis and bone spur.  that is great news.  the pain seems much better all ready.  the boys have been really good for mom and around the shoulder.  it is in s fancy sling for 2-3 weeks.  when i first got home luke held on to my legs the whole time.  i am sure i will sleep a lot tomorrow.  i have slept 20 minutes and then i am up for 20 minutes this has been the case since i got home.
sorry if my typing is awful, it is hard to do with my left hand.

Happy Birthday Joey!!!

It has been 5 years already.  I can't believe it.  Joey wanted to have a birthday party at McDonald's.  It was a really great place to have a party.  Kaitlyn, Mallory, Tucker, Marianna, Karina, Carl, and Mrs. Nancy came to his party.  We highly recommend a party at McDonald's.

The 5 year old at school.

He came home with this hat on.
At the party, it is great fun to play.
Luke is enjoying the party
He is a pirate
This is Kaitlyn, Joey loves her

I have not written of the New Year

I am not sure if 2009 is going to bring good things. First thing is January 6, Joey turns 5. For some reason, I am having a super hard time excepting this.  I will admit it, I don't like birthdays for my boys.  I do totally enjoy watching them grow and learn, but it brings sadness I miss the days when I could just hold them all the time.  Now I know with Joey turning 5 he will learn and teach me things that I never imagined.  I know when I look back, I will think that age 5 was awesome and will be a little sad about him turning 6 in a year.

I think that the shoulder surgery on the 7th has me more upset about Joey's birthday.  I think I am dreading this surgery so much that it is affecting my whole attitude.  I dread being immobilized for a minimum of 2 weeks.  I dread the whole thing, but know I can't go in fear of someone touching my shoulder for life.

Also they say that what we do when the clock strikes midnight we will do for the rest of the year.  Let's hope that is wrong, I was flushing a chest tube that grossed me out, so it would probably make the average person really sick.

Update on Wonder Mutt

Wonder Mutt's incision is doing well.  I have been cleaning his drain and the first day a lot of stuff came out, now nothing.  He seems to be feeling his normal self.  He actually has been running and seems happier than he has for a few months.  Maybe this thing hurt him more than he let on.  I thought Winnie would be sad the other day, when Wonder Mutt was gone all day long.  She acted like he didn't know he was gone.  Maybe she is dumber than we had thought.
The evening of his surgery he did a lot of squeaking and acted like he hurt a little.  The next morning he seemed fine.  He is running and eating and only after I clean the area does he even act like he knows it is there.  Hopefully when the drain comes out on Monday, he will feel even better.

Wonder Mutt and our New Bedroom

Kev painted a lot in our room.  I am really not sure how he got everything done that he did with company, the boys, Wonder Mutt's surgery, and me driving him crazy.  I think it is great.

Wonder Mutt had a growth removed from his chest on Monday.  Last spring we noticed a black area on his chest it wasn't raised it was just black.  Then about 3 months ago it started really growing.  It was removed Monday and now he has a penrose drain in place.  He seems to be doing very well today.
